Learn Swimming

Warnings:

  1. Don’t swim alone.
  2. Make sure there is a lifeguard.
  3. Don’t learn swimming in river or lake.
  4. Use proper safety gear.
  5. Stay within a depth where you can stand.
  6. Avoid swimming during storm.

Swimming Step 1: Try floating on your back.

  1. Stay in a shallow depth and try floating on your back.
  2. Take a deep breath and then float; if your lungs are full of air, your body will float for sure.
  3. There will be water around your ears; your nose and mouth will be in the air.
  4. For stability, put out your arms so that your body is in a “T” shape.

Swimming Step 2: Learn breathing technique

  1. Take a deep breath and put your face underwater.
  2. Slowly exhale out your nose until you’re out of breath, then come back up. Bubbles should come out.

Swimming Step 3: Practice kicking your legs.

  1. Float on your back, or hold on to the side of the pool, and practice kicking.
  2. See how far each kick can propel you, practice it using a board or inflatable swimming ring.

Swimming Step 4: Learn how not to drown.

Swimming Step 5: Learn how to swim and advance forward.

Swimming Step 6: Get better.
